Bridgerton Inspired Wedding

Why Bridgerton…

Why not? If you haven’t yet watched it where have you been and if you have you’ll most likely have been so drawn to the characters and the (then) world they live in! Let’s face it, we’re obsessed and here’s why…

Following London’s high society, this modern day period drama simply has it all! It focuses around the very powerful, Bridgerton family siblings and their quest to find love in Regency era England. At a time where finding your love match is so public and competitive. Full of scandal, comedy and romance I was sad to see it end after it’s mere 8 episodes and even though it rounded everything off in the finale it left us wanting SO MUCH MORE and so the news of a second series was very welcomed indeed!

Full of diversity, friendships, love and lust it really is a gorgeous and well directed show. The music was incredible throughout with some of our modern day favourites covered by the Vitamin String Quartet and we can proudly say they have made their way into our Spotify Wedding Playlists for you all.

Flip back to the present day, in a time of Covid lockdowns, with weddings on hold, being postponed left right and centre, Bridgerton’s very strong sense of ‘Love Conquers All’ really is very fitting to the now. Combine this with the strong and fiesty woman behind the secret persona of Lady Wistledown, (who lets face it, essentially holds all the power!) we find ourselves really rooting for the women in this show. All in all, this series brought us all the romance, gossip and sexy drama we never knew we needed! And we are here for it!

Simply put, we’re obsessed…

You’ve probably guessed by now that there was a Bridgerton shaped hole in our hearts and with an empty wedding venue in lockdown we decided to bring Bridgerton to us! And we just love what we came up with. But first thing’s first we needed to pull our inspiration together and translate it to a room set up and table decorations. Cue Bridgerton Pinterest board. Here’s a taster of what we pinned to our board…

Stacked books

Frames with pressed flowers

Patterned China

Gold candelabras

Gold accents, florals & candles

Book pages, backdrop idea

Cornflower blue - the Bridgerton family colour

Getting our creative heads on…

With so many of you using your lockdown time to get creative for your wedding and making your own CIY (Create It Yourself!) table decorations, one of the key things we wanted to achieve whilst doing these wedding set ups was to be able to create them either on a budget or from items we already own/ found around the house. Because if we can, so can you!

With our Pinterest board complete and giving us all the Bridgerton feels we went hunting for similar items that would be fitting with the theme but also classy, timeless and romantic.

So without further ado, we welcome you to… our Bridgerton inspired wedding set up!

The final look

Styling our Alexandra Suite for your wedding breakfast

Top table…

We had to have a touch of the Bridgerton family colour of blue in here and we went for the gorgeous cornflower blue shade. We had the cloth draped effortlessly down the centre of the top table and pooling onto the floor. Antha Event Hire’s ‘All you need is love’ neon shining bright behind the new married couple mirroring the ‘Love conquers all’ theme to the period drama.

Positioned off centre, we added in some forest green and dusky pink florals naturally falling down the front of the table. Then added in candlesticks and candles of varied height and colour to add depth to the long table. Finally we filled in gaps using old photo frames with pages from old books pressed between the glass.

Gold rimmed charger plates and cutlery with patterned China cup and saucer just finishes off the place settings beautifully with a chic, almost Parisian feel to it.

And there you have a beautifully simple yet elegant top table arrangement fit for a Duke & Duchess!

Round guest tables…

With the top table being the main feature we wanted to set it apart from the round tables whilst still allowing them to ooze the grandeur they deserve. We started with the centre piece and wanted to create different heights and textures within it.

Our gold candelabras really set it off to a great start and we layered it up with some stacked old books, a gold cloche filled with faux roses and another of our frames with a book page pressed inside acting as the table name. Finished off with a few of our small glass tealights to add warmth at a lower lever.

We wanted to mix things up a bit for the place settings and also sneak some of the added gold in there too. We did this quite subtly by mixing it up with two types of place setting, alternating them around the table. The first being our gold rimmed charger plates with a modern style gold cutlery laid on top of the crisp white napkin wrapping the plate.

The other being a standard white plate wrapped in the same crisp white napkin but with a more ornate gold cutlery laid out ready to eat with.

Bear in mind, this look will work just as well with silver cutlery and a simple folded napkin (as per our basic table set up, see our blog post for visual)

It wouldn’t be Bridgerton if there wasn’t a dainty patterned China cup and saucer ready for the after dinner tea! We have a gorgeous collection with lots of different designs and they look so lovely (even if they are all mix and match). We also swapped out the usual flute (for the toast sparkling wine) to a gorgeous cut glass coupe which is much more in keeping with the era and just beautiful.

Styling our Woodlands Suite for your ceremony

Ceremony room…

As the room where we host your civil ceremony and you both get to say your vows to one another. It makes a truly special moment in your life and the biggest one of your wedding day. So of course it demands luxury and a bit of WOW!

We used the luxury of the Bridgerton theme by dressing the table to tie in with the wedding breakfast set up. We draped another piece of blue fabric down the centre of the table and pooled it again at the bottom to help break up that block of white and really draw the eye.

We styled the edge of the table in the same manner as the top table utilising the same candlesticks, flowers and frames. Finally we added an empty ornate gold frame in front of the table to ‘mirror’ our gorgeous mirror behind it all and tie in the gold too.

We really wanted to draw the eye up to the bottom of the aisle so we used our ceremony dressing package drapes, plinth tables and lanterns to create that grand entrance that any bride (or Duchess) would expect.

Finally, our lovely radiator covers make for great areas to decorate with all the pretty things. So we used a few of the leftover candlesticks and pressed book page frame to dress them. We had lots of these empty gold ornate frames in storage and again, propped on here they look gorgeous against the white walls and ivory Chiavari chairs.

The finishing touches make all the difference!

How do I recreate it?

As I said at the start, our main aim was for you to be able to recreate our inspired looks yourselves so here’s where you can get your hands on the items we used or ideas on where to find similar and the best cost possible for your very own Bridgerton inspired wedding theme!

Your shopping list…

Items you can get from us…

  • Aisle drapes, gold plinth tables, gold lanterns and floating candles from the ceremony room are part of our standard ceremony room dressing included in our packages

  • Gold candelabras - £25 each to add on to your package and we have enough for all tables

  • Glass tea light holders are already included in your wedding package

  • Chiavari chairs included in our wedding packages as standard

Antha Event Hire

  • Backdrop and neon (so many options to choose from in their portfolio - £175 at time of blog (link to Insta account)

  • The flowers we used are also theirs but you could always create your own to suit your theme, places like Hobbycraft/ Ikea/ Homesense/ Ebay/ Amazon have a great selection of faux flowers and greenery you can build your own arrangment with and simply hold together with a cable tie

IKEA…

  • Glass and gold cloches - £8 each (link to item)

  • Gold frames similar to the ones we used - £3.50 each (link to item)

  • Candlesticks - set of 3 in black, could always spray paint gold £9 (link to item)

Amazon…

  • Artificial rose heads - pack of 30 different colours £14.99 (link to item)

Ebay/ local Facebook selling sites/ charity shops

  • We found a job lot of about 10 different sized and shaped candlesticks from a local Facebook selling site and sprayed them gold it cost about £20 altogether which is great value so keep your eyes out for things like this second hand

  • Charity shops are great for finding old books like what we used and often for as little as 50p a book

Abakhan Fabric Store

  • This shop is great for low priced quality fabrics and you can buy online. For a lightweight plain cotton similar to what we used it’s around £6.55 per metre and we used a piece of fabric that was about 2.5-3m in length (link to item). Check fabric width before buying to make sure it’s wide enough and if you want more gathering or a wider section of it then opt for a wider fabric roll. For similar to above but wider you’re looking at about £10.55 per metre instead - well worth it though I say. Or head to your local fabric shop/ mill and they often have rolls of old stock reduced quite a lot and ideal for what you need them for.

Charger plates/ cutlery/ fancy glassware

  • We now have some beautiful gold beaded charger plates which you can add on to your package to elevate your table decoration

  • The ones we used in this set up were a small set we already had at home but if you wanted enough for all your guests then you can always hire them in. We’ve worked with a company called Whitehouse Event Crockery before and they have so many options for you to choose from and their prices are really reasonable. Definitely worth checking out to really give your guests the WOW factor.

We hope you love it…

We really hope you love our Bridgerton inspired wedding theme as much as we do. We had so much fun creating it and even if Bridgerton isn’t your thing, hopefully you’ll be able to take away some inspiration from this. Now go and get you Pinterest account active and get your creative heads on for some CIY (Create It Yourself) wedding goodness! And for my final note, always remember…
